GENERAL INFORMATION & CAUTIONS
MANIC PANIC ® is a conditioning semi-permanent hair colour
fortified with an herbal and protein complex. It can be used to
achieve intensely bright colours on hair that has been professionally
lightened to a very light blond, and on some natural blond hair.
Some colours, particularly the dark reds, dark purples, or dark
greens may give a highlight of colour to natural dark unbleached
hair, and may be brighter on lighter and more porous hair MANIC
PANIC ® Hair Colour is not recommended for people with more
than 10% white hair. A strand test is recommended to verify colour
on your particular hair.
Hair Colour should be used exactly as it is supplied without the
addition of any other substances.
Do not under any circumstances add peroxide to MANIC PANIC ®
Hair Colour. · Do not mix with permanent colorants. ·
Colour may temporarily stain the skin and may permanently stain
clothes, towels, bedding and other material. · Do not use
alkaline products in conjunction with MANIC PANIC ® Hair Colour.
This will upset the acid-balanced state necessary for maximum absorption
of colour by the hair. If setting lotions or blow-dry lotions are
required to be used, low pH, non-alcohol based products are recommended.
Avoid eye contact. This product must not be used for dying eyelashes
or eyebrows. If eye contact does occur, rinse immediately with warm
water and contact a physician.
Not for internal use. Keep out of reach of small children.
For best results the hair should be porous, bleached or tinted.
When applied to virgin (unprocessed) hair only partial colour action
or no colour action may occur.
PERFORMING A PELIMENARY
PATCH TEST.
- Select a small test area, about the size of a quarter, behind
the ear or in the inner fold of the elbow.
- Wash the test area gently with a mild soap and water. Dab dry
with a clean towel.
- Cover the clean test area with a thin coat of the specific
shade of MANIC PANIC ® Hair Colour desired.
- Allow the test area to dry. Leave it uncovered and undisturbed
for 24 hours.
- Examine the test area carefully. If there are any signs of
redness, burning, itching, blisters or eruptions, then under no
circumstances should the product be used on the person tested.
STRAND TEST
To be sure that the desired results will be achieved, apply colour
in the manner described below using just a small lock of hair before
attempting to dye a large area.
Shampoo hair thoroughly using a pH acid balanced shampoo. Rinse
completely to remove all residues. Towel dry, leaving hair damp.
Protect. Wear protective plastic or rubber gloves for application.
Use petroleum jelly or baby oil around hairline and on ears to
prevent colour from staining skin.
HOW TO APPLY YOUR MANIC PANIC HAIR COLOR
Empty desired amount into a plastic bowl (1/2 bottle for short
hair, full bottle for long hair).
With the aid of a tint brush, apply colour beginning 1/2 inch from
the scalp and working it evenly through to the ends of the hair.
Do not apply directly to the scalp. Begin at the nape of the neck
and work upwards through the head of hair. Be sure to completely
saturate the hair shaft.
Continuously comb colour through hair until it becomes frothy.
This indicates that it has been thoroughly absorbed. Lighter shades
of MANIC PANIC ® Hair Colour may require more combing to obtain
maximum penetration and a longer lasting effect.
Wait. Leave colour on hair for 5-15 minutes. MANIC PANIC ®
will process fully in 15 minutes at normal room temperature. The
use of an infrared heat lamp will reduce the processing time to
between 5 and 7 minutes and can produce a deeper coloration with
longer lasting properties. For resistant hair, it is advisable to
place a plastic cap on the hair, and leave on for up to 30 minutes.
Rinse hair thoroughly, away from face. Due to the restructuring
properties of the product, no after-treatments are necessary.
HOW TO MAKE YOUR MANIC PANIC HAIR COLOR LAST
LONGER
After shampooing the hair, replenish your colour your hair by adding
2 tablespoons of MANIC PANIC HAIR COLOR to your normal hair conditioner.
Comb through the hair...let it sit in the hair for 3 - 5 minutes,
then rinse with warm water. This will restore the colour that has
washed out with your shampooing!
Another trick to making your MANIC PANIC Hair Colour more permanent
is to rinse your hair with vinegar immediately after colouring.
This raises the PH level of the hair colour and gives it more permanence.
GETTING THE COLOUR OUT
Use of an alkaline shampoo will promote removal of colour from
the hair. Colour may also be professionally covered with a darker,
natural shade of MANIC PANIC ® Hair Colour.
A pre-packaged hot oil treatment may further accelerate the removal
of colour: Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully for
application of oil. To remove oil along with some colour, first
apply shampoo without the addition of water. Add water very gradually
as you continue to shampoo until oil is completely removed.
Consult with manufacturers of lightening and colour removal products
before attempting their use or get the advice of a licensed hairdresser.
